Overview

A time of godly men presiding over the growing family. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph, successive generations of the same family, ruled over the Hebrew people in the earliest days of their existence.

Lesson 1

Creation

Lesson Concept:

Acknowledging God as the Creator – God is Powerful.. Because He can do anything.

Lesson Summary:

God creates this earth, its heaven and all forms of life in six days.
The creation acts of each day are described—God creates man, both male and female, in His own image and likeness.
Man is given dominion over all things and is commanded to multiply and fill the earth.

Discussion Questions:

What did God do in the beginning of the world?
What did God create in today’s story?
What can we learn from today’s Bible reading?
Which Book did our story come from?
What does this story mean to me?

Life Application:

Can you locate certain creations by pointing out the verses?
When do you personally feel that God is your power? At school? At home? etc …
How can we show gratitude to our heavenly father?
Do you have the courage to stand up for what is right? After all, look what God gave up for us.

Church Concept:

Do you know how many types of Angels God has created? We know 9 types that are mentioned in St Basil’s Liturgy.
Angels, Archangels, Principalities, Authorities, Thrones, Dominions, Powers, Cherubim & Seraphim.
We all long for the day when we will go to Heaven and be part of all God’s heavenly creation and praise His name forever.

Lesson 2

Fall

Lesson Concept:

Obeying God‘s commandments will not make me fall.

Lesson Summary:

The serpent deceives Eve to partake of the forbidden fruit, and then Eve gave the apple to Adam to eat.
The roles of man and woman are explained.
Adam & Eve are cast out of the garden of Eden.
Eve is the mother of all living.

Discussion Questions:

What is a commandment?
What made Eve eat from the tree?
What was the serpent trying to do to Eve? Why?
How did she feel when she ate from the tree?
Can a person hide from God after disobeying God’s commandments?

Life Application:

When God tells us to do something or refrain from doing certain things, it is for our own good.
We, Like Eve, can rationalize and start making excuses for not obeying God but we will always suffer for acting in such a way.
He made us and he knows everything about us. He knows what is good for us.
The devil, who tempts us, is still working on the world today and he will tell us the same lie he told Eve.
He will tempt us to do exactly the opposite of what God wants for our own good.

Church Concept:

After the fall of Adam & Eve, humans became corrupt. Meaning that people were leaning to do evil and disobey God’s commandments.
To fix this corrupt nature, the Church mandates that any believer must first be baptized to be declared a Christian. Baptism gives us a new nature that is leaning to do good and to obey God’s commandments.

Lesson 3

Flood

Lesson Concept:

Trusting God will protect me because I am His child.

Lesson Summary:

Noah and his family spent a long time inside the ark waiting for the flood to stop.
Even when it stopped raining Noah wasn´t allowed to go outside for a long time.

Discussion Questions:

How long did the rain last during the time of the flood?
What mountain did the Ark come to rest on?
What two birds did Noah send out to see if the land was drying up?
What was the total time that Noah & his family & the animals were on the ark?
What was the first thing that Noah did when he got off the ark?
What was the rainbow a sign of?

Life Application:

How would you feel if you had to stay inside your house day after day without being able to go outside?
People laughed at Noah for doing what god asked him to. Would you listen to God or would you be peer pressured not to?

Church Concept:

We trust that through the Lord Jesus’ crucifixion we were all saved.
That’s why in Church as well as in our houses we love to have the Cross everywhere around us.
Every time we look to the cross, we say: “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today” (Exodus 14:13)

Lesson 4

Tower

Lesson Concept:

I am known to God by name.

Lesson Summary:

God planned to spread out over the earth and repopulate after the flood
People gathered to build a tower to reach up to heaven
God intervened and stopped their plans by causing everyone to speak different language

Discussion Questions:

Why did the people want to build a tower?
Why did their efforts upset God?
What was God‘s response?
What does the tower represent in our lives now?
Do we need high towers to be known to God?

Life Application:

We should not have an unhealthy pride.
Good Pride is when you feel good about yourself because you have done a good job or you are part of something good that makes you feel happy.
Bad Pride is when you think TOO well of yourself. You might think you are better than you really are if you have bad pride.

Church Concept:

When you go to visit an old monastery in Egypt, you find something common almost in all their very old churches.
To enter to the church you have to bow down, as the church door is not that high; and this design had a purpose.
This is to make you remember every time when you enter to the church that you have to humble yourself before the Lord and leave your pride out of the church boundaries.
